According To Tay

Hi, I’m Tay! 👋 I live up in Northern Michigan near the Great Lakes, where summers are way too short and winters give me plenty of time to convince myself I need another hobby.

If I had to describe myself, I’d probably say I’m an expert in a little bit of everything. Or maybe a hobby connoisseur.

I’m endlessly curious, slightly impulsive, very Type A when I decide I want to know something, and almost always up for trying something new. I’ll play a game of Magic: The Gathering, spend an afternoon thrifting, pick up a completely new craft, go golfing, plan an adventure, get way too invested in a fantasy series, or decide I suddenly need to know everything there is to know about something I discovered 20 minutes ago.

Basically, I have a lot of interests and I’ve never understood why I should have to pick just one.

My toxic trait is genuinely believing I could walk up to a wild animal and it would sense my good vibes, realize we’re obviously friends, and let me pet it.

I Go Down the Rabbit Hole So You Don’t Have To

I’m the person who reads the reviews, compares 27 versions of the same thing, opens entirely too many tabs, and needs to know whether there’s something better, cuter, more unique, or actually worth the money before I choose.

My friends and family know this about me too.

If we’re taking a trip, I’m planning it. Someone can casually suggest a destination on the phone and I’ll have half the itinerary figured out before we’ve hung up.

If someone needs a gift idea, wants to find something specific, is considering a new product, or just needs somebody willing to investigate something way further than the situation reasonably calls for… I’m your girl.

I’ve also spent my career in hospitality, which probably hasn’t helped my obsession with the little details. 😂 I’ve spent years thinking about what makes people feel welcome, what makes an experience memorable, and the difference between something being fine and being genuinely worth talking about.

So, What Is According to Tay?

Honestly? A little bit of everything.

I created According to Tay because I wanted somewhere to share all of my interests without forcing myself into one niche.

That means things can get a little random around here…in the best way.

You might find a beautiful piece for your home, a ridiculously nerdy gift, something for the kids, a new hobby to try, an idea for your next adventure, something that solves a problem you didn’t know you had, a book I couldn’t put down, or something completely unnecessary that I still think you need to see.

Some things are practical. Some are beautiful. Some are weird. Some are just fun.

If it’s worth buying, trying, making, or doing, it belongs here.

I do the researching, comparing, planning, rabbit-holing, and excessive scrolling.
