Gengar has one of those Pokémon designs that makes it dangerously easy to put him on absolutely everything. The grin. The purple. The slightly chaotic ghost energy. It works.💜
And this particular rabbit hole is dedicated to my husband, whose favorite Pokémon is the classic purple baddie himself: Gengar. So naturally, what started as me looking for a few fun Gengar gifts turned into “wait, they make THAT with Gengar on it?!”
I knew I didn’t want to make a list of 13 slightly different figurines, either. I wanted things a Gengar fan might actually be excited to unwrap. Whether they’re into Pokémon cards, gaming, collecting, building things, cozy stuff or just surrounding themselves with an unreasonable amount of their favorite Pokémon.
And the options got weirdly good.
There are classics like a Funko Pop and plushes, but I also found a full Gengar gaming setup, Pokémon TCG accessories, a crochet kit, drinkware, a Loungefly backpack and a few things I genuinely did not know existed before making this list.
By the end, we’re taking this whole Gengar thing to its logical conclusion.

1. Gengar Funko Pop
Starting with a classic. 💜
Funko Pops are basically a universal language for nerds at this point, and Gengar fits the format ridiculously well. This one is simple, recognizable and easy to add to a Pokémon collection, gaming setup, bookshelf or desk without needing much space.
It’s also a solid gift when you know someone loves Gengar but aren’t quite ready to start buying them Gengar furniture.
Why it made my list: A Funko is just one of those classic collectibles that works for almost every fandom, so Gengar absolutely deserved one on this list. It’s recognizable, displayable and an easy starting point before we get into the considerably less normal ways you can apparently put Gengar all over your house.
2. Gengar Gaming Setup
If your gaming setup isn’t purple enough yet, Gengar has entered the chat. 😂🎮
This whole setup is basically what happens when Pokémon merch meets actual gaming gear. You’ve got a purple RGB keyboard, an XXL Gengar desk mat, the Razer Gengar mouse, and my personal favorite: the headset with Gengar’s spikes running across the top.
I like that you can go as far with this as you want. One piece adds a little Gengar to a desk, or you can put the whole setup together and make it VERY clear who your favorite Pokémon is.
The desk mat might actually be one of the easiest gifts of the bunch since it gives you that giant Gengar artwork without replacing someone’s existing gaming gear. But if you’re shopping for someone who would willingly wear Gengar spikes on their head while gaming… obviously we have options. 😂
Why it made my list: A lot of character gaming accessories feel like regular gear with a logo slapped on them. These actually commit to Gengar. From the giant artwork across the desk mat to the ridiculous little spikes on the headset. And the fact that you can build an entire purple Gengar setup out of it makes this considerably more fun than buying someone another random gaming accessory.
3. Gengar Embroidered Snapback Hat
Sometimes you don’t need subtle Pokémon merch. Sometimes you need GENGAR embroidered across your forehead.
This officially licensed Bioworld snapback goes all in with a big embroidered Gengar on the front, purple lettering and a matching purple brim. But one of my favorite details is actually underneath, the underside of the bill is covered in a Poké Ball pattern, so there’s a little extra Pokémon detail you don’t immediately see from the front.
It’s definitely more “yes, I am a Pokémon person” than quiet fandom merch, but that’s kind of the point. If you’re shopping for someone whose favorite Pokémon is Gengar, I don’t think they’re particularly interested in pretending otherwise.
Why it made my list: Funko covers the classic collector gift, the gaming setup covers the gamer, and this gives us something someone can actually wear. Plus, I appreciate merch that commits. They didn’t hide a tiny Gengar logo in the corner and call it a day, they put his name across the entire hat. 😂
4. Gengar Plushes for Every Level of Gengar Obsession
Of course Gengar has plushies. The bigger question is what level of purple menace you’re looking to bring home.
For the classic option, there’s the 12-inch Gengar plush, which looks the most like regular Gengar and is probably the safest pick if you’re buying for a Pokémon fan of basically any age.
Then there’s the 14-inch Gengar Squishmallow, where Gengar has been transformed into a giant squishy blob—which, weirdly, works incredibly well for him. This is the one for someone who wants their Pokémon collection to double as something they can actually curl up with.
And then we have Mega Gengar, who has clearly had enough of being adorable. The Pokémon Center Mega Gengar plush has the extra eye, giant spikes, darker coloring and those massive clawed hands coming out in front. It’s easily the most dramatic of the three and feels much more like a display piece for someone who already loves Gengar.
Why it made my list: I couldn’t pick one Gengar plush when these three are doing completely different jobs. You’ve got classic Gengar, squishy Gengar and Gengar after choosing violence. There is a Gengar for the occasion. 😂
5. Gengar Ramen Bowl With Chopsticks
Gengar would like to join you for dinner now. 🍜💜
This 20-ounce ceramic ramen bowl has Gengar surrounded by Poké Balls on the front and comes with a matching pair of chopsticks that slide right through the top of the bowl for storage. Which is both practical and considerably more fun than keeping them buried in a kitchen drawer.
And despite “ramen bowl” being in the name, you’re obviously not contractually obligated to only put ramen in it. Noodles, rice bowls, soup, cereal, snacks: whatever tastes better when eaten out of a bowl with Gengar staring at you.
Why it made my list: I wanted this guide to have things people could actually use, not just 13 different ways to display Gengar on a shelf. The built in chopstick storage makes this more interesting than a standard character bowl, and I appreciate any Pokémon merch that can justify its existence by also holding dinner.
6. Gengar Christmas Ornament
Gengar has made his way onto the Christmas tree. 🎄
This Hallmark ornament is classic Gengar in miniature: purple, grinning, and looking way too pleased with himself while dangling from a perfectly innocent Christmas tree.
It’s also an easy gift for someone who already has plenty of Pokémon collectibles. Instead of trying to figure out which figures or plushies they already own, you’re giving them something they can pull out every Christmas and add to the tree.
And honestly, a Ghost-type Pokémon hanging around at Christmas is just funny enough to work.
Why it made my list: Pokémon fans deserve Christmas ornaments of their favorites, and Gengar hanging from a tree like he’s personally responsible for whatever happened to the presents underneath it feels correct.
7. Gengar Building Sets
Some Pokémon deserve to be built brick by tiny brick. Gengar is one of them.
I found two completely different ways to do it, depending on whether you’re shopping for someone who wants an actual project or just wants a tiny Gengar glaring at them from a shelf.
The LEGO Pokémon Cubone and Gengar’s Spooky Showdown is the big option. It’s a 782-piece set with both Gengar and Cubone, plus the spooky little environment around them. And as someone whose favorites include Cubone while my husband’s include Gengar, I feel personally targeted by this pairing.
Then there’s the nanoblock Gengar, which goes in the complete opposite direction. He’s tiny, pixel-y, unmistakably Gengar, and exactly the kind of thing I’d stick on a desk or bookshelf between other collectibles.
These also make great gifts for someone who likes Pokémon but doesn’t necessarily want another plush or figure. They actually get something to do before it becomes display decor.
Why it made my list: I couldn’t choose between giant LEGO Gengar chaos and tiny block Gengar chaos, so we’re keeping both. One is a whole project; the other is a tiny purple menace for your shelf. Pick your level of commitment.
8. Loungefly Gengar Mini Backpack
Okay, Gengar was MADE for a Loungefly bag.
This mini backpack goes all-in on purple without feeling like Gengar’s face was simply printed onto a bag and called a day. His giant grin and eyes make up the front pocket, while the rest of the backpack has a more subtle tonal Gengar pattern. Even the little spikes around the top of his head are worked into the shape of the pocket.
It’s definitely recognizable as Pokémon merch, but it still has that collectible Loungefly look that makes the bag itself part of the fun. This would be such a good convention, theme park or everyday bag for someone who likes carrying their fandom around with them.
Why it made my list: Gengar already has one of the most recognizable silhouettes and faces in Pokémon, and this bag actually uses them as part of the design instead of just slapping him on the front. Plus, Pokémon + Loungefly is a very dangerous combination for anyone who enjoys collecting things.
9. Gengar Drinkware
If your cabinets aren’t already full of mugs you absolutely did not need, Gengar is here to help.
First is the 20 oz 3D Gengar mug, and subtle it is not. Instead of simply printing Gengar on the side, the whole mug is shaped around him, complete with his red eyes, giant grin and spikes wrapping around the back. Fill it with coffee or hot chocolate and you’ve basically given Gengar a tiny steaming brain.
For something a little more practical, there’s also the 30 oz Gengar Evolution stainless steel tumbler. This one features Gengar front and center with Gastly and Haunter worked into the design, so it gets bonus points for including the whole evolution line. It also comes with a handle and straw, making it much more suited for taking along to work, gaming sessions, road trips or wherever your emotional-support beverage needs to go.
Why it made my list: The mug wins on ridiculous Gengar personality, while the tumbler is something you could realistically carry around every day. One says “I love Gengar.” The other says “I would like to drink my coffee directly out of him.” Both feel valid. 😂
10. Gengar Stats Hoodie
Sometimes Pokémon merch doesn’t need to reinvent the wheel. A black hoodie with Gengar on it is a pretty safe bet.
This one uses a pastel purple stats-grid design with several different Gengar poses, plus his Pokédex number, Ghost/Poison typing, height and weight underneath. I like that the black background keeps it wearable while the purple artwork still makes it very obviously Gengar.
It also feels like an easy gift when you’re shopping for a Pokémon fan but aren’t quite brave enough to guess what collectible they need next. Hoodies are useful, Gengar looks good on black, everybody wins.
Why it made my list: We’ve reached the point in this guide where Gengar has been turned into bags, mugs, gaming equipment and building sets, but sometimes you just want to wear the purple menace. The Pokédex-style stats make this one a little more interesting than a basic character hoodie without going completely overboard.
11. Gengar Crochet Kit
Okay, THIS is the kind of gift I get excited about finding.
Instead of buying another Gengar to put on a shelf, you get to make your own. The kit includes the materials to crochet Gengar, plus instructions for five other Pokémon if the first one sends you down an entirely new hobby rabbit hole.
And Gengar translates ridiculously well into crochet. He’s already basically a round purple ball with spikes and a giant grin. He was made for this.
This would be especially fun for someone who likes Pokémon and crafty hobbies or for the person who already owns enough Pokémon merch that you’re struggling to find them something different.
Why it made my list: It’s not just Gengar merch; it’s an activity and a Gengar at the end. I also love gifts that can accidentally unlock someone’s next obsession. You came here looking for a Pokémon gift and three weeks later they’re surrounded by yarn making an entire Pokédex.
12. Gengar Pokémon TCG Accessories
For the Gengar fan whose Pokémon cards also need to match the aesthetic. 😂💜
Ultra PRO has a whole Gengar collection, so instead of choosing one card accessory, you can build a matching setup. There’s a zippered 9-pocket binder for the collection, a premium deck box that holds 100+ double-sleeved cards, and 105 Gengar card sleeves for protecting a deck.
The dark purple design is especially good here. It’s clearly Gengar without covering every square inch in giant character art, and the binder and deck box use the shadowy silhouette design that feels a bit more grown-up than a lot of Pokémon accessories.
You could easily gift one piece on its own, but I think the fun is that you can turn it into a mini gift set. Binder for the collector, deck box and sleeves for someone who actually plays—or all three for the person whose Pokémon cards have become a full-blown personality trait.
Why it made my list: Pokémon cards are already dangerously good at convincing us we need accessories for our accessories. 😂 If you’re buying them anyway, they might as well have Gengar on them. I also like that this gives you several price/size options while still feeling like one cohesive gift idea.
13. Gengar Kigurumi Onesie
There was really only one reasonable way to end a list of Gengar gifts: become Gengar. 😂💜
This SAZAC kigurumi is basically a giant wearable Gengar, complete with his enormous grin across the hood, ears and spikes on top, more spikes running down the back, and even a tail. It is wonderfully ridiculous in exactly the way a Pokémon onesie should be.
You could absolutely buy it as a Halloween costume or wear it to a convention, but realistically? This feels destined to become the thing you throw on around the house all winter while playing video games and refusing to wear real clothes.
Why it made my list: We started with a classic Gengar Funko Pop and somehow ended up here. After 12 ways to put Gengar on your shelf, desk, clothes, cards and drinkware, becoming Gengar yourself feels like the only appropriate grand finale.
And somehow we’ve reached the end of a Gengar gift guide with the ability to literally become Gengar, so I think we’ve covered our bases.
What I like about this list is that there isn’t really one type of Gengar fan. You could be building a Pokémon card collection, upgrading your gaming setup, hunting for another plush, looking for something to build, or just wanting a giant purple ghost mug staring at you while you drink your coffee.
There are also plenty of options here that work beyond birthdays or Christmas. Gengar has enough of a spooky side for Halloween, enough collector appeal for Pokémon fans, and enough personality to justify buying completely unnecessary purple things year-round.
Personally, I think that’s part of why he’s such a fun Pokémon to shop for.
Now the real problem is deciding whether you’re buying the Gengar gift for someone else… or quietly adding it to your own cart. 😂
